Pre Competitive 1
AGES 6 +
This full year program offers an introduction to competitive baton at a reduced commitment level. Athletes will learn the fundamentals of baton twirling, as well as some choreography for both individual and group events.
Athletes will compete at 3 local competitions to start them getting used to being in front of judges and an audience.
Athletes will also work on the Canadian Baton Twirling Federation badges as they progress through the year.
Pre Competitive 2
COACH RECOMMENDED
This followup program to Pre Competitive 1 continues to teach athletes the fundamentals of baton twirling and choreography but dance instruction is also introduced at this level.
Athletes will build off what they learned in Pre Competitive 1 and learn more complicated baton technique. They will also continue onto the next levels of the CBTF badge program.
The mandatory dance class will be a combination class incorporating both basic Jazz and Ballet. These two styles of dance will help twirlers reach their full potential of dance and baton, plus athletes will learn the fundamental basics of dance technique to help improve their overall twirling. The class will be a format of across the floor dancing, centre floor practices and fun combos.
Participants will compete at 3 local competitions both individually and as a group.
Pre Competitive 3
COACH RECOMMENDED
This next program is for athletes working towards being a part of the competitive stream. There is an added time commitment in dance and baton. Acro is also recommended for this group as an additional class.
Athletes will build on what has been learned in Pre Competitive 1 & 2 while working on individual and group routines.
In baton athletes will build on what has been learned in Pre Competitive 1 & 2 while working on added individual routines and group routines. They will learn skills from maroon and bronze pin from CBTF SDP program.
In the mandatory dance class they will learn basic ballet and jazz positions, focus will be on proper body technique needed when twirling baton. They will also learn new skills such as jumps, kicks and turns, as well as further their musicality abilities!
Participants will compete at 4 local competitions both individually and as a group.
